The 'artificial intelligence' in your new smart gadget may not be what you think
“It automatically adapts the audio experience.” If you’re on a bus, it can recognize that sound signature, and then put the headphones in their “Commute” mode, meaning that active noise canceling kicks in.
In a public space, like a sidewalk, the headphones switch into a mode called “In Public,” which triggers a feature called “HearThrough” that uses the mics—it has eight in total—to amplify the sidewalk sounds.
In short, these headphones use, or “have,” artificial intelligence because machine learning has allowed them to be contextually aware and then switch the headphone mode to the correct setting dynamically.
(Actually, it’s relying on the app you pair them with to make this happen.) It’s AI, but it’s limited by what Jabra and Audeering program it to do: it’s not going to learn Spanish on its own, or start adapting to an environment in a new way, unless it’s programmed to do so.

Many fear that the rise of AI will lead to machines and robots replacing human workers and view this progression in technology as threat rather than a tool to better ourselves.

Occupations within the transport industry could potentially be at much greater risk, whereas jobs requiring social, emotional and literary abilities are at the lowest risk of displacement.
As we develop innovative technologies, AI will have a positive impact on our economy by creating jobs that require the skill set to implement new systems.
It is likely that artificial intelligence will soon replace jobs involving repetitive or basic problem-solving tasks, and even go beyond current human capability.
Instead of focusing on the fear surrounding automation, businesses need to embrace these new technologies to ensure they implement the most effective AI systems to enhance and compliment human intelligence.
What Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Mean for Entrepreneurs

The expert panelists agreed that machine learning itself is neither inherently good nor bad, but that the machines are amoral: AI will only be catalysts to help humans do whatever it is that humans do, faster.
For this reason, it will be crucial to make sure that AI does not inherit the worst of our human qualities, to ensure for example that training data sets do not teach AIs to learn the same prejudices that hinder humans from attaining our greatest collective potential.
How to use Artificial Intelligence to boost sales
The truth is, personalization works – customers have come to expect a personalized experience and so generic sales and marketing messages are becoming less effective.
These machine learning algorithms analyze data including browsing behavior, past customer interactions, previous purchases, and the purchases of other customers who share certain behaviors or characteristics.
This information is used to automatically recommend products that are highly likely to be of interest to each user, rather than a more generic selection of items that are somewhat similar to items purchased in the past.
AI lead scoring enables sales teams to concentrate on their most valuable leads and return less-qualified leads to the marketing team for further nurturing through the sales funnel.
Using sales software that uses predictive analytics to score leads means that sales and marketing teams have more time to spend interacting with prospects and crafting effective marketing campaigns.
Just as AI is effective at identifying those leads that are most likely to convert, it is also able to predict the cross-sells and up-sells that a sales team is most likely to be successful with for each individual lead.
This eliminates the guesswork that sales teams have to do when it comes to cross-selling and reduces the risk of annoying existing customers with excessive cross-selling of products and services they’re not interested in.
There is a lot of money to be made in cross-sells and up-sells – you have a 60 – 70% chance of selling to an existing customer, compared to only a 5-20% chance for a new prospect.
Luckily for today’s marketers, there is another option – machine learning algorithms can be used to automatically make changes to your online marketing assets based on real-time interactions from each user.
AI chatbots can be programmed to answer basic questions about products and services, provide customer support and service, make cross-sells and upsells, and direct queries to human employees in customer service or sales when necessary.
This reduces the load on human operators and enables website users to get answers to their questions at any time, even if your online chat service is only staffed during working hours.
